TULSA, Oklahoma — A man was arrested after he struck another man in the head with an axe in Tulsa, according to new video and reports. Israel Trejo has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon after he swung and hit a 21-year-old man in the head with an axe in downtown Tulsa. The victim was sitting on a couch eating inside an apartment, near West 12th Street and South Houston. Trejo was standing in the living room holding an axe that authorities said he was trying to purchase from another person. Authorities claim Trejo never spoke to the victim, and after a few minutes of holding the axe, Trejo swung the axe and buried it deep inside the victim’s head. The victim was taken to a hospital with the axe still stuck in his skull. Police said doctors do not expect the victim to survive his injuries. Trejo fled the home, but was apprehended by police at East 6th St and South Peoria Ave. The charge will be upgraded to first-degree murder if the victim does not survive, according to police.
