GUADALAJARA, Mexico — A man fell onto the Guadalajara Light Rail tracks at Unidad Deportiva Station after reportedly clinging to the window of a moving Line 1 train car.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on October 24, according to authorities. Witnesses told investigators the man, believed to be between 35 and 40 years old, appeared to be under the influence of drugs at the time of the fall.
Emergency personnel responded quickly, but officials reported that the man sustained severe injuries, including head trauma and the apparent amputation of one leg.
Following the incident, SITEUR temporarily suspended operations at Unidad Deportiva Station and limited service on Line 1 to the stretch between Juárez and Auditorio stations.
Authorities noted that no passengers aboard the train attempted to activate the emergency stop mechanism during the event.
Service on the affected section of Line 1 is expected to remain suspended for an undetermined period while the investigation continues.
