A 54-year-old corn vendor in Pasay City was killed when a wheel detached from a trailer truck and struck him while he was pushing his cart along EDSA-Tramo, authorities said.

The victim, identified only by the alias “Escote,” was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital after suffering severe injuries to his head and body. According to the investigation, the trailer truck was traveling in the southbound lane when one of its front wheels came off, flew off the vehicle, and hit the vendor. The same wheel also damaged the rear end of a police mobile patrol car that was parked nearby.

The driver of the trailer, a 48-year-old man identified as “Ronnie,” has been apprehended by the Pasay City Police. He is expected to face charges including reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
