Colombian Military Forces have neutralized alias Richard Suarez, also known as “Richar,” leader of the Magdalena Medio Bloc of the FARC dissidents and a key figure in the conflict with the ELN in the Catatumbo region. The operation took place during ongoing control missions conducted by the military in the area.

According to preliminary reports, Suarez served as the financial head of the 33rd Front of the FARC dissidents. He was allegedly responsible for managing illicit funds obtained through drug trafficking and extortion, as well as overseeing logistics and arms supplies for armed groups operating in Catatumbo.

Authorities continue to investigate and gather intelligence to identify other members of the organization and dismantle the group’s remaining support networks.
