A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday during a cockfighting event in the Paramonga district of Peru, where 55-year-old Jorge Luis Castillo Corzo lost his life after being accidentally attacked by his own bird.

According to witnesses, the rooster—equipped with a sharp blade attached to one of its legs—struck Castillo Corzo in the thigh, severing his femoral artery and causing rapid blood loss. The incident reportedly happened as he was preparing the bird before the fight began.

Castillo Corzo was immediately rushed to the 7 de Junio Medical Center, where doctors attempted to stabilize him. However, despite their efforts, he died within minutes due to the severity of the injury.

Those present were left in shock. Residents of Paramonga expressed disbelief at the accident, describing it as a deeply unfortunate and unexpected tragedy.

Local authorities have opened an investigation into the incident to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the death.
