A 57-year-old woman named Soudamini Mahala went missing after being dragged into the Kharasrota River by a crocodile in Jajpur district, Odisha, India.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Monday in Kantia village, under the jurisdiction of Binjharpur Police Station.

Witnesses on the riverbank tried to chase the crocodile and rescue the woman but were unsuccessful.

Fire brigade personnel and police launched an immediate search operation in the river to locate her.
