A labor accident at the Metro Line 2 construction project in Ho Chi Minh City claimed the life of a worker after a digger struck him on the head during site works.

Preliminary information identifies the victim as Mr. Nguyễn Văn Tư, born in 1964. During road reinstatement work in the section from Xuân Hồng Street near the intersection with Trường Chinh in Tân Sơn Nhất ward, he stood in a blind spot behind an excavator and was struck by the machine’s rear.

The incident took place at approximately 5:10 AM on September 22, 2025, on the Metro 2 package XL TN2, which covers relocations and restoration of drainage, signage, lighting, and traffic signals from Station S7 to Station S11. Rescue services were called, but the victim died at the scene from severe head injuries.

The contractor notified relevant authorities, extended support to the victim’s family, and is cooperating with local government and the project owner. Metro Line 2 has a planned length exceeding 11 km and a total investment close to 47,900 billion VND.
