A man was killed after being run over by a driver he and an accomplice allegedly tried to rob early Sunday (21) in the Jardim Alcântara neighborhood of São Gonçalo. Security camera footage shows two suspects walking along the street when one pointed a gun at an approaching car. The driver reacted by accelerating onto the sidewalk, striking both men. One of them, identified as Antoniel Duarte dos Santos, was thrown several meters and died at the scene.

According to the Military Police, officers arrived to find one suspect already dead and secured the area. The second man, who had pointed the gun at the driver, was injured but managed to flee, as captured on nearby surveillance cameras. Both suspects had disguised themselves as recyclables collectors, carrying trash bags and blankets.

The case is under investigation by the Homicide Division of Niterói, São Gonçalo and Itaboraí (DHNSG), which conducted a forensic analysis and is continuing to examine the incident.
