Driver did not notice the victim during curb-painting work; condition is critical

On the afternoon of Monday (15), a worker identified as Luyr Felipe Lima Rodrigues, from the Municipal Department of Urbanism (Semurb), was violently run over while painting curbs on PA-160, near the Júlio Simões company in Parauapebas.

The victim was wearing a reflective uniform, and the work site was marked with two cones indicating ongoing activity. Even so, the worker, who was near the median strip and off the roadway, was struck by a white Chevrolet Spin vehicle with a side decal, suspected to belong to an educational institution, still under investigation.

There are no clear explanations for why the driver did not notice the victim despite the visible signage and reflective clothing.

After the collision, the driver fled without providing assistance. Rescue teams were called and took the worker for medical care in critical condition.

Authorities are reviewing security camera footage and other evidence to identify the responsible party.
