Balod, Chhattisgarh – On 4 September, 31-year-old Vinay Kumar Chandaniya from Kokpur village in Rajnandgaon district came to Balod with his sister for medical treatment. While walking near his uncle’s house, a section of a wall suddenly collapsed above him. The impact caused him to fall headfirst into a concrete drain and lose consciousness. Passersby noticed him a short time later and raised the alarm. He was first taken to a government hospital and later referred to a private hospital. Despite treatment, he died two days later.

CCTV footage of the incident, now circulating online, shows that just moments before the collapse a girl walked past the same wall. Vinay followed seconds later and was struck by the falling structure.

He was an electronics engineer preparing for competitive examinations to secure a government post. The incident has left his family and local residents in shock.
