A shocking incident took place on September 3 in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, when a young man named Junaid jumped into the swollen Yamuna River from Niwada village as part of a ₹500 dare from friends and was swept away by the strong current.

Police said Junaid was encouraged by his friends, who promised him money and celebration if he managed to cross the dangerous river. He initially swam but was quickly overpowered by the rapid flow and disappeared underwater.

Rescue operations are ongoing, with local police, divers, and disaster response teams searching the area. Efforts have been hindered by high water levels and strong currents. Authorities have also initiated legal action against the friends who instigated and filmed the incident.
