An elderly man, aged 78, was brutally attacked by a Pitbull while walking his great-granddaughter to school on Monday afternoon in Vista Alegre do Alto, São Paulo’s interior. The dog had escaped from a neighboring house after a child left the gate open.

Security camera footage (made public by G1 on August 27) shows the moment the dog charges at the man. His great-granddaughter quickly pulls away and runs to safety while the elderly victim is brutally bitten.

The man was initially taken to the local hospital, but the severity of his injuries required transfer to a medical facility in Bebedouro, where he underwent surgery. Family members report that he may lose movement in one hand due to tendon damage from the bites. Fortunately, the young child escaped unharmed.
