Koraput, Odisha – A search operation is underway after 22-year-old YouTuber Sagar Kundu (also reported as Sagar Tudu) went missing on August 23, 2025, when he was swept away by strong currents at the Duduma Waterfall while filming a video for social media.

The incident took place in the afternoon as Kundu attempted to capture drone footage while standing on slippery rocks near the waterfall, located in Odisha’s Koraput district on the Andhra Pradesh border. Despite warnings from his friends about the rising water levels, he proceeded toward the edge.

A sudden rush of water, caused by the release from the nearby Machkund Dam following heavy rainfall, swept him away. Graphic video circulating online shows the moment Kundu was pulled under. Locals and tourists tried to help with ropes, but the rescue attempt failed.

Police, fire services, the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), and local volunteers have joined the rescue operation. So far, only a bag containing batteries and filming equipment has been recovered.

The incident has triggered emotional reactions on social media, ranging from sympathy to criticism of risky stunts for online content. It has also renewed calls for stricter safety measures at popular natural attractions, especially during the monsoon season.
