Tver, August 22, 2025 — A man has been detained in the Tver region after assaulting a woman near a café in Nelidovo. The incident was reported by the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to officials, police discovered a video online showing the suspect kicking a woman in the face on Matrosov Street. The man’s identity was quickly established, and he was taken into custody.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 213 of the Russian Criminal Code (hooliganism). Authorities are considering what preventive measures to impose on the suspect.

The case follows several recent incidents of domestic violence in Russia. On August 19, a man in Moscow’s ZILArt residential complex struck his wife unconscious during an argument after she returned home from a bar with friends. Neighbors who heard her screams intervened and called an ambulance. Although the woman regained consciousness, she refused to file a police report. Eyewitnesses have said they intend to approach authorities directly.

In another case earlier this year, a drunk man in southwest Moscow attacked his pregnant wife during a domestic dispute. He stabbed her in the leg, attempted to strangle her, and later threatened responding police officers. The incident took place in an apartment on Teply Stan Street.
