Maceió – Police in Alagoas have arrested a man who confessed to killing his former partner, Roseane Tenório dos Santos Jerônimo, in the Jacintinho neighborhood on Friday night, August 22.

According to investigators, the victim had arranged to meet her ex-partner to return an engagement ring. During the encounter on Rua Guilherme Rogato, the man attacked her with a knife, inflicting more than nine stab wounds that proved fatal.

Emergency teams responded quickly, but Roseane could not be saved. Within hours of the crime, police located the suspect in the Grota do Pau D’Arco area and took him into custody.

Authorities reported that, during his escape, the suspect attempted to discard the victim’s belongings by throwing her handbag and mobile phone onto a rooftop. These items were later recovered, and messages on the phone confirmed the planned meeting.

Police also confirmed that the suspect has a history of drug trafficking, threats, property damage, bodily harm, and domestic violence. He admitted to the killing and remains in custody while legal proceedings move forward.

Investigators emphasized their ongoing commitment to combating violence against women and urged the public to continue reporting cases of abuse and threats.
