A 59-year-old man was brutally murdered on the afternoon of Saturday, August 16, 2025. The attack took place on a farm in the rural area of Encruzilhada, in southwestern Bahia. The victim, Gilberto da Silva, was struck with a piece of wood while walking alongside his family, pulling a donkey and cart.

Security camera footage captured the moment the assailants approached and delivered multiple blows to his head and body. Though he collapsed, Gilberto remained conscious and cried out in pain as his wife and children screamed in terror.

According to his wife, the killing was motivated by a dispute over inherited land and involved two brothers, a cousin, and their mother. After the attack, the suspects fled. Police were alerted and have launched an investigation. Gilberto’s body was sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office, and no arrests have been made so far.
