A 33-year-old man was shot in the head at point-blank range outside a smoke shop in the Soundview section of the Bronx on the night of August 7. The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. in front of the Exotic World Smoke Shop on Westchester Avenue.

Responding officers found the victim on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe the victim may have been specifically targeted. The suspicion arises from an incident the night before, when he allegedly struck an up-and-coming female rap artist known as “BabyyThreat” in the face, an assault that was also captured on CCTV.

Police are reviewing footage and pursuing leads while the shooter, described as wearing a mask and dark clothing, remains at large.
