DAULE, Ecuador – A brutal armed assault in the guarded community of Cdla. Málaga 2, Vía a Daule, claimed the lives of two family members, including the leader of the GDO group Los Lagartos, early Saturday morning.

According to the neighborhood administration, the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. when ten heavily armed men entered the community, threatening security personnel, seizing their weapons and cell phones, and cutting off all communication. CCTV footage captured the attackers searching a residence in Block 17, Villa 1, before fatally shooting their victims, showing no regard for the presence of a newborn baby.

Authorities said the security guard managed to alert ECU 911, but police reportedly arrived about an hour later. By morning, National Police investigators had collected evidence and seized DVRs from the guardhouse’s security cameras.

Community leaders have since called for stronger security measures, but officials noted that only two patrol vehicles currently cover the entire Aurora area, making a permanent police presence at the site unlikely. The neighborhood administration stated that further updates will be shared through official community channels.
