A gas cylinder explosion late Monday night led to the collapse of a building near Market Road in Medchal–Malkajgiri district, near Hyderabad.

The blast occurred in a residence that also housed two flower shops and a mobile phone store. The force of the explosion caused the structure to collapse instantly, sending debris flying and damaging nearby shops.

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by falling debris. Three others were injured, including an elderly woman, a stationery worker, and a mobile shop employee. They were taken to a nearby hospital, and their conditions are reported to be stable.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the explosion. Preliminary findings suggest a gas leak and poor ventilation may have caused the gas to accumulate, triggering the blast when a stove was lit.
