A devastating road accident occurred near the Jamua petrol pump in the Karakat area of Rohtas district, Bihar, when a speeding Mahindra Thar SUV lost control and rammed into four people standing by the roadside.

The collision claimed the life of **Indu Devi**, a woman around 40 years of age, who died on the spot due to the severity of the impact. The other victims — **Pawan**, an 8-year-old child, and two men identified as **Salamuddin Ansari (30)** and **Salim Ansari (32)** — sustained serious injuries. They are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Bikramganj.

Eyewitnesses reported that the SUV was moving at a very high speed before the driver lost control and veered off the road, striking the bystanders. Locals alleged that the occupants of the Thar, including the driver, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

Following the incident, angry villagers detained the driver and two others who were in the vehicle. They were later handed over to the police after public outrage erupted in the area. Residents also staged a roadblock on the Bikramganj–Dehri route, demanding immediate and strict action against those responsible.

Authorities have since seized the vehicle and launched a full investigation. CCTV footage from the nearby area is being reviewed to confirm the sequence of events and the condition of the driver at the time of the crash.

The tragic event has once again raised concerns about reckless driving and the growing number of road accidents in the region.
