A man identified as Patrick was shot and killed on the night of Sunday, July 20, while walking through Vila Cutia in the São Raimundo region of São Luís. According to investigators, he was targeted at random in a retaliatory attack following the killing of a local criminal organization leader earlier that day.

Surveillance footage captured the attack, which occurred on 6th Street. Authorities believe Patrick had no involvement in any criminal activity and was chosen randomly as a victim in a wave of violence triggered by the murder of a man known as "Chicão," who was shot inside a red vehicle in the same neighborhood just hours earlier.

Patrick, a father of three, had just dropped his wife off at church before the attack. His family is devastated and has strongly condemned the violence.

“This damned faction war took my father. A hardworking, honest man. He left behind me, my older brother, and my little brother, who’s only two years old,” said one of Patrick’s sons.

Patrick’s wife, who asked to remain anonymous, described him as a devoted husband and father who always prioritized his family and lived an honest life.

The Superintendence of Homicide and Personal Protection is investigating both murders. According to Patrick’s relatives, he had no connection to any criminal organizations.
