A shocking act of violence shook residents of the Fátima neighborhood in Trujillo after a young man was murdered in broad daylight by a gunman. The incident occurred just meters from a clinic and near both residential and commercial areas, in full view of multiple witnesses.

The attack was targeted and carried out at point-blank range. The suspect approached the victim silently and opened fire without warning. The victim, identified as 28-year-old Benjamín Gutiérrez Quintanilla, had just left a gym and was speaking with a parking attendant when he was ambushed. He collapsed on the sidewalk as bystanders fled in panic.

Medical personnel from a nearby private clinic responded immediately upon hearing the shots. Despite showing signs of life, Gutiérrez succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported on a stretcher to the Fátima Clinic.

Forensic teams recovered bullet casings and other physical evidence at the scene, including a bullet impact on a nearby wall. Security camera footage from the surrounding area is being reviewed to identify the perpetrator and trace his escape route.

Police confirmed the victim was preparing to enter his vehicle when the attack occurred. Investigators are pursuing multiple lines of inquiry, though the motive remains unclear at this time. No suspects have been apprehended.
