The incident occurred in Cruz das Almas, located in the Recôncavo region of Bahia. The victim, a 21-year-old woman, was seriously injured after being struck in the face by a June sword on Tuesday (24).

According to the Cruz das Almas City Hall, the woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was initially treated at the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) with facial trauma. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was transferred to the State General Hospital (HGE) in Salvador. Her current health condition has not been released.

Data from the Municipal Health Department of Cruz das Almas indicates that between June 1 and 24, 169 burn cases were treated within the municipal health system. Of these, 10 patients required transfer to more specialized hospital units.

The State Health Department (Sesab) reported that from June 18 until 7 a.m. on Wednesday (25), a total of 72 burn-related incidents were recorded throughout Bahia. These included 24 cases involving burns caused by fireworks or bonfires and 48 related to bomb explosions.

The majority of patients, 53 in total, received care at the State General Hospital (HGE) in Salvador.
