The incident occurred during the morning rush hour when the trains crossed each other near a sharp curve close to Mumbra railway station.
According to officials, the victims were standing on the footboards of the trains, and as the trains passed each other, their backpacks brushed against each other, causing several passengers to lose their balance and fall onto the tracks.
