Sacramento, California – May 13, 2025 — At approximately 9:03 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department received a report of a man brandishing a firearm near North 16th Street and North B Street. According to the caller, the suspect was walking in the street, waving a handgun and pointing it at bystanders.
Five minutes later, the same caller contacted dispatch again, stating the suspect was now heading northbound near the 200 block of North 16th Street.
At 9:13 a.m., the first responding officer arrived on scene and located the suspect. Two additional officers arrived shortly afterward. The officers observed what appeared to be a firearm in the suspect’s pocket and issued repeated commands for him to stay back and move onto the sidewalk.
The suspect refused to comply and advanced toward the officers while urging them to shoot him. Despite the officers’ efforts to retreat and de-escalate the situation, the suspect continued approaching and pulled the object from his pocket. At that point, all three officers discharged their firearms, striking the suspect.
Officers promptly secured the weapon from the suspect’s right hand and administered emergency medical aid. The suspect was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
After receiving treatment, he was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on multiple charges, including brandishing an imitation firearm and resisting arrest. Investigators later confirmed that the weapon recovered at the scene was a replica firearm.
