FAIRPORT, N.Y. (WROC) — Fairport police have confirmed a man jumped in front of a train near North Main Street Friday afternoon.
Fairport Police Chief Matthew Barnes says at this time, the investigation shows there are indications this was a self-inflicted incident from what was watched and heard from witnesses — however, the investigation remains ongoing.
“It’s a human being you’re dealing with,” Chief Barnes said. “That human being for whatever reason, decided to take these actions. But it not only affects his or her, it affects his or hers family. And you know, sons and daughters and mothers and fathers and their lineage. So, one life affects however many. It’s terrible.
The area remains shut down and is estimated to reopen soon.
