NEW ORLEANS —New Orleans police are investigating an unclassified death after a body found in the Mississippi River near the Algiers Ferry Sunday morning.
Police said the incident took place on the Crescent City Connection Bridge around 5:59 a.m.
Officers responded to a call of a man on the bridge, who jumped over the guard rail into the Mississippi River.
The body was retrieved from the water around 8:19 a.m.
No other information has been provided at this time.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim and conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
This is an ongoing investigation.
