One person reportedly died after tumbling from a second-floor window and three others were injured — including a firefighter — after a fire tore through a Brooklyn business Monday morning.
Around 60 firefighters and medics responded to a blaze at a three-story building that started on the second floor of M9 Deli and Grill around 7:08 a.m. near 39th St. and 9th Ave. in Sunset Park, FDNY officials said.
One man fell from an upper window as a firefighter tried to help him down, and later died, according to News 12 Brooklyn. There was blood on the ground as a result of the fall.
“They tried to help my roommate out the window,” one of the residents evacuated by ladder told the news outlet. “But I don’t know what happened—I just saw him fall down. It’s tragic.”
Two other people suffered minor injuries — as well as a firefighter — from the blaze.
The flames were placed under control at 8:10 a.m.
The cause of the fire was not immediately clear; FDNY fire marshals are investigating the blaze.
