On May 11th, 2025, a Mother’s Day brunch at Big Ed’s in Raleigh turned violent when an altercation broke out at the Quail Corners location around 11:50 a.m.
Witnesses reported that the situation escalated quickly, with chairs being thrown, fists being exchanged, and a man firing three shots into the floor before physically assaulting a woman.
Three individuals were injured: two as a result of the physical altercation, and one who was grazed by a bullet.
Amanda Lewis, dining with her children, described seeing her daughter flee barefoot as patrons scrambled to escape the scene.
A grandfather, who was present with his grandchildren, described the incident as "heartbreaking."
While law enforcement officials have assured the public that the area is now secure, no arrests have been made at this time.
