In a shocking case of animal cruelty that has sparked outrage, Fuerza Civil has detained a man accused of brutally beating a tlacuache to death at a car wash in Monterrey, Nuevo León. The incident, which occurred on March 24, 2025, at the “Car Wash Elite Cumbres,” was captured on video, prompting swift action from local authorities.
The arrest of the suspect, identified as Gerardo ‘N’, was confirmed by the Governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, who took to social media to announce the news. “Fuerza Civil has just located and detained the aggressor of the tlacuache from the video days ago. We will be very attentive to ensure that the full weight of the law falls upon him and that he receives the maximum penalty. ZERO TOLERANCE against these criminals and animal abuse,” García stated.
The incident unfolded at the car wash, where a video showed an employee violently slamming the tlacuache against the ground while others laughed in the background. The footage drew widespread condemnation and led to an immediate investigation by the State Environmental Prosecutor’s Office, in collaboration with Parks and Wildlife of Nuevo León and other state authorities.
On March 23, prior to the arrest, officials attempted to investigate the car wash but found it closed. They returned the following day, where they were able to conduct a general inspection. During this inspection, they discovered several irregularities that led to the temporary suspension of all activities at the establishment.
The charges against Gerardo ‘N’ include animal cruelty and crimes against biodiversity, with potential penalties ranging from six months to nine years in prison. The Government of Nuevo León has reiterated its commitment to taking decisive actions against animal abuse and ensuring that those who cause pain or suffering to animals are held accountable.
