An armed attack occurred this morning at 2nd Street and 5th Avenue in Zone 19, in the La Florida neighborhood, leaving one man dead and another wounded.
The victim, identified as Marco Antonio Mérida, 35, was the driver of a pickup truck. He got out of his vehicle and, upon being shot, used a rifle to repel the assault.
Security camera footage shows the moment the driver opens fire on the alleged criminals, killing one of them in the street as he tried to flee. He then chases after the other hitman, dressed in white, who was carrying the weapon while fleeing along the road, managing to evade the driver. The footage also shows a fourth person, a woman who, upon witnessing the confrontation, tried to shield herself from the bullets.
Fortunately, the woman was unharmed. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle was taken to the IGSS (National Institute of Social Security) due to gunshot wounds. Preliminary versions of the case are emerging: one suggests that the victim works as a pawnbroker, which may have motivated the attack. Authorities are already investigating the incident to clarify what happened and identify the alleged hitman.
