A security camera captured the moment when a trailer ran over an elderly woman on Henry Sierra Boulevard in Coatepeque, Quetzaltenango.
In the incident, the woman was hit twice by the heavy vehicle, which knocked her down and left her trapped under the trailer for a few seconds.
A witness to the accident quickly came to the victim's aid and alerted other drivers, who had not noticed what had happened.
The woman identified as Guadalupe Acabal, approximately 70 years old, received emergency care from the Red Cross and was transferred to the National Hospital of Coatepeque in Quetzaltenango with serious trauma, especially to the legs.
Mrs. Acabal was transferred alive to the hospital unit, but despite the medical efforts provided, hospital staff confirmed that she had died.
Social media users are debating whether the truck driver saw the woman or not. On the other hand, they say that it was reckless for the victim to cross in front of the truck.
