The police have named the Ranajaya tourist bus driver, Daniek Eko Irawanto, who hit a married couple on a motorbike to death, at the Poluhan red light intersection, Srengat, as a suspect.
“Yes, we have named the bus driver as a suspect and we are detaining him,” explained Head of Traffic Police of Blitar City Police, AKP Andreas Andang Wastiono to reporters, Wednesday (19/2/25).
The Traffic Police Chief added that the tour bus driver was arrested after the accident that killed Suparno and his wife Sumiati, residents of Ngaglik Village, Srengat District.
The perpetrator also underwent a series of examinations at the traffic accident unit since Monday. The perpetrator was proven to have broken through a red light at high speed, causing an accident.
“The perpetrators are threatened with a maximum prison sentence of 6 years and/or a maximum fine of IDR 12,000,000,” added the Head of Traffic Police.
As previously reported, the Ranajaya tourist bus with the number plate AG 7341 UP driven by Daniek Eko Irawanto, was speeding through the red light at the Poluhan intersection, Srengat and hit a married couple riding a motorbike, Suparno and Sumiati, Tuesday morning (18/2/25).
Both victims died from being thrown and were seriously injured. This fatal collision was also recorded by a surveillance camera or CCTV belonging to the Blitar Regency Transportation Agency. The bus traveling from Kediri was about to return to the garage in Tlumpu, Blitar City, after traveling from the capital city of Jakarta.
