The incident occurred while the tourist was riding a motorcycle from Pollachi to the Tiger Valley viewpoint, a popular tourist destination. According to eyewitnesses, Michael encountered a wild elephant on the road. Despite warnings from other motorists to avoid the area, he approached the elephant.
