A PDI detective shot and killed a criminal who tried to assault him on the corner of Orleans and Kansas streets, in the commune of Maipú.
Around 06:00 in the morning, the detective - who provides escort services to the general director of the PDI, Sergio Muñoz - was waiting for a colleague to pick him up on said street to go to his workplace.
While waiting, the official was approached by a criminal who got out of a white vehicle, grabbed him by the neck and intimidated him with a firearm to steal a bag that the victim was carrying.
However, the perpetrator dropped the magazine of his pistol, so the police officer stepped back, pulled out his service weapon and fired several shots at the aggressor, who finally lost his life at the scene as a result of his injuries. The dynamics of the assault were captured by surveillance cameras in the sector.
