A cyclist died after losing his balance while trying to avoid a school bus and being crushed by the vehicle in the city of São Desidério , in western Bahia. The moment of the accident was caught on a security camera. [See video above]
The accident happened late in the morning on Thursday (1st), near Juarez de Souza square, which is in the center of the municipality. The school bus transported children home.
The images show that the cyclist, identified as José da Hora, aged 54, loses his balance after hitting a parked truck. The bus was traveling in the opposite direction.
According to witnesses, the victim died shortly after being hit. The bus driver did not stop to provide assistance.
José da Hora's body was taken to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) in Barreiras . There are no details about his wake and burial. The Civil Police investigates the case.
In a statement, São Desidério City Hall lamented the cyclist's death and informed that it will await the conclusion of the police investigation to take a position on the case.
15 days ago, a 4-year-old boy, identified as Artur Colen Fonseca, also died after being run over by a bus traveling to school in western Bahia. The case took place in the city of Jaborandi.
