Two agency security guards of Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) in Silang, Cavite, were killed by an unidentified gunman while on-duty early Tuesday morning.
Local police said the shooting happened at around 3:30 a.m. at the AUP compound in Barangay Puting Kahoy.
The victims were identified as Marlon Pilinio and Ron Aldrin Siosa.
“The suspect onboard a motorcycle (scooter, wearing jacket) suddenly appeared outside the gate and without apparent reason shot the victims ] and fled towards the Santa Rosa direction with the weapon used,” the police report read.
Police said both victims sustained gunshot wounds to their body that caused their immediate death.
In a statement, the AUP condemned the “senseless act of violence” that killed two of its security personnel.
“Based on the initial information, it is an isolated case and has nothing to do with anyone directly connected to the university nor with its daily operations,” it read.
The university said authorities are currently investigating the incident.
