On Sunday morning, a 14-year-old teenager suffered a shark attack on the beach from Piedade, in Greater Recife. The victim had to be taken by helicopter to Samu’s ICU and then transferred to the Hospital da Restauração, both in the Derby neighborhood, central region of the capital of Pernambuco.

The attack happened at 11:20 am. The hospital staff reported that the girl was referred to the surgery center, but did not give any more information about her health.

The incident happened in a region where it is forbidden to bathe in the sea precisely because of the higher frequency of shark attacks, close to the Igrejinha de Piedade.
