A prisoner died after getting involved in a fight inside a cell at the Prison Rogério Coutinho Madruga, in Nísia Floresta , Grande Natal , on the morning of this Friday (23). The information was confirmed by the Secretary of Penitentiary Administration of Rio Grande do Norte.

According to the folder, the case happened around 6 pm. The unit's management reported that the criminal police officers on duty heard screams and acted to control a fight between two inmates. The perpetrator would have kicked and stepped on the victim's head.

The agents had to use "equipment of lesser offensive potential" in containment, such as pepper spray.

Still according to Seap, the cell had 12 inmates, but only two were involved in the fight. A third person was also injured trying to break up the fight.

The Mobile Emergency Service (Samu), the Technical-Scientific Institute of Expertise and the Civil Police were called to the scene.

Seap also reported in a note that the two inmates involved in the fight are considered highly dangerous. Seap's Special Operations Group (GOE) was called in to reinforce the security of the prison unit.
