EL NUEVO DIARIO, SAN PEDRO DE MACORÍS.- A sergeant of the National Police attached to the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett) was stabbed in the neck by a woman and died this Friday in San Pedro de Macorís after sustaining an argument over the payment of a motoconcho.

The victim was identified as 30-year-old Arredondo Severino Marte, who was attacked by Yokasta Santana after arguing because the police officer was asking the woman to pay for motorized transportation that she refused to pay for. The authorities' report details that after being injured, Severino Marte drove his motorcycle away from the scene, but it collapsed a few meters from where the event occurred. The attacker was arrested minutes after the fact by police officers while trying to flee.

The detainee will be made available to the Public Ministry in the next few hours, for corresponding purposes.

As for the corpse, it was sent to the Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) in San Pedro de Macorís for autopsy purposes.
