A former teacher of the university was driving the car that pulled the woman trapped under the car in the Dhaka University campus. His name is Mohammad Azhar Zafar Shah. He was a teacher in the international relations department of the university. He was fired by the university administration in 2018.

The woman fell from the motorcycle in front of Zafar Shah's private car in front of the Faculty of Fine Arts around 3 o'clock on Friday. According to witnesses, the woman got stuck on the bumper of the private car. Then the driver continued speeding without stopping the car. University students chased him and caught him near Nilkhet Mor. At that time, the woman was rescued alive, but she died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The deceased woman named Rubina Akhter (45) was a resident of Tejgaon area of ​​the capital. He was going to his father's house in Hazaribagh on Dewar's motorcycle. While rescuing the woman by stopping the private car, the angry students beat the driver of the car. At that time he introduced himself as Azhar Zafar Shah, Assistant Professor of International Relations Department of Dhaka University.
