A 42-year-old app-based delivery rider, Maraisa Cardoso Ribeiro, died after her motorcycle collided head-on with a pickup truck in Rondonópolis, Mato Grosso, Brazil.

The accident happened on Wednesday, July 15, near the 5th Military Police Battalion in the Parque Universitário neighbourhood. Security camera footage captured the moment the motorcycle and the pickup truck collided.

According to preliminary information from police, the motorcycle was travelling in the opposite direction when the crash occurred. The impact threw the rider from the motorcycle, leaving her seriously injured.

Maraisa was rescued by emergency medical services and taken to Rondonópolis Regional Hospital, where she later suffered a cardiac arrest and died despite medical efforts.

The Civil Police have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances and responsibility for the fatal collision.
