A pedestrian was killed after being struck and run over by a state-run bus while crossing the road at the Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India.

According to police, the man was crossing the roadway inside the busy bus terminal when an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus approached and hit him. CCTV footage of the incident shows the bus striking the pedestrian before running over him. The victim died at the scene from his injuries.

Authorities have detained the bus driver and launched an investigation to determine whether driver negligence, pedestrian distraction, or a combination of both contributed to the fatal crash. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and gathering witness statements as part of the inquiry.

The incident has renewed concerns over pedestrian safety at one of India's busiest bus terminals.
