A man was found dead with a gunshot wound near a basketball court in Philadelphia's Cobbs Creek neighbourhood, with a firearm still in his hand.

The body was discovered by a man who had been playing basketball with his girlfriend. He immediately alerted emergency services after finding the victim.

Philadelphia police responded to the scene and launched a homicide investigation. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and have not yet announced any arrests or identified a suspect.
