FEIRA DE SANTANA, Brazil — A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a municipal bus in Feira de Santana, the second-largest city in the state of Bahia, on Thursday morning.

The victim was identified as Jonas Pereira Lima da Silva, who worked as a ride-hailing motorcycle driver. According to local reports, the crash occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. at an intersection on Avenida Marechal Floriano Peixoto while he was traveling to work.

Authorities said the collision involved a motorcycle and a city bus. The bus driver stated that he was traveling within the speed limit and had a green traffic signal when the vehicle entered the intersection. Following the impact, the driver stopped immediately and contacted emergency services.

Despite rescue efforts, Silva died at the scene from his injuries. No passengers aboard the bus were injured.

Police have opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the crash. Investigators are expected to review witness statements, surveillance footage, and other evidence to establish how the collision occurred.

The victim would have celebrated his 31st birthday the following day.
