A 32-year-old man was shot and killed in front of residents after allegedly being abducted and transported to a neighborhood in Lima's Carabayllo district by armed assailants.

The victim was identified as Wilmer Abel Samamé Olazabal. According to police and witness accounts, he was brought to the Villa Esperanza settlement in a dark-colored SUV before being forced out of the vehicle on Primero de Mayo Street.

Witnesses reported that at least two armed men accompanied the victim from the vehicle before opening fire at close range. The attack occurred in full view of local residents, many of whom were left shocked by the brazen nature of the killing.

After carrying out the shooting, the suspects reportedly fled the scene in the same vehicle. Emergency responders arrived shortly afterward and attempted to assist the victim, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Police cordoned off the area and launched a homicide investigation, collecting ballistic evidence and interviewing witnesses. Investigators are examining whether the victim was kidnapped prior to the attack and whether the killing was linked to organized criminal activity.

Authorities are also reviewing surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses in an effort to identify the suspects and establish a motive.

The killing has intensified concerns over the rise of contract-style murders and organized crime-related violence in several districts of Lima, where authorities continue efforts to combat escalating criminal activity.
