A man was struck by a speeding taxi while attempting to cross Pineapple Main Road in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, on Wednesday morning.

According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 7:56 a.m. and was captured on surveillance footage. The victim, identified as Wayne, was seen exiting a nearby establishment and observing traffic before attempting to cross the roadway.

Video footage shows the man waiting as several vehicles passed before stepping onto the road. As he neared the opposite side, a taxi travelling at high speed approached in an easterly direction. The victim appeared startled and attempted to change direction moments before being hit by the vehicle.

The impact threw the man into the air before he landed out of camera view. Several bystanders rushed toward the scene following the collision, while a man believed to be associated with the victim appeared visibly distressed afterward.

Authorities have not yet released official information regarding the victim’s condition, and investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
