Jesús Carrillo Olier, owner of the Maderas Carrillo lumber business, was shot and killed in a targeted attack outside his store in Cartagena, Colombia.

The shooting took place in the Juan XXIII neighborhood on Avenida Crisanto Luque. Witnesses said Carrillo was standing outside his business when a gunman approached on foot and opened fire multiple times before fleeing on a motorcycle.

Carrillo, 64, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

According to local authorities, Carrillo had previously been listed as a suspect in several investigations involving offenses such as theft, fraud, threats, and domestic violence.

The killing also revived memories of a similar attack in 2010, when Carrillo’s brother and business partner, José Carrillo Olier, was murdered at another family-owned lumber store in Cartagena.

Police are investigating the motive for the attack and working to identify those responsible.
