A former Senate candidate was shot and killed in a targeted attack in Trujillo, in an incident captured on video.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Jorge Luis Alcalde Alfaro, was attacked by gunmen while on a public avenue. He was holding his pet at the time of the shooting when a hitman approached and opened fire at close range.

The attack occurred in broad daylight, causing panic among bystanders as the assailant fled the scene immediately after carrying out the shooting.

The victim died from multiple gunshot wounds, and authorities have launched an investigation into the killing, which is being treated as a targeted assassination.
