A 33-year-old man was arrested after robbing a grocery store and being both shot and run over while attempting to flee in Botucatu, in the interior of São Paulo, Brazil.

According to reports, the suspect entered the store armed with a replica firearm, threatening employees and customers. During the robbery, he stole cash and several mobile phones from the premises.

As he attempted to escape on a motorcycle, the shop owner, who legally possessed a firearm, reacted and fired multiple shots, striking the suspect. Moments later, the fleeing man was also hit by a passing vehicle.

Emergency services were called, and the suspect received medical attention before being taken to hospital under police supervision. The stolen items were recovered and returned to the victims.

After receiving treatment, the man was formally placed under arrest. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident, including the use of force during the robbery and subsequent pursuit.
